- 3: for “a repetition of the same sound at the beginning of two or more stressed words” read either “a repetition of the same sound at the beginning of two or more stressed syllables” or “a repetition of the same sound at the beginning of two or more stressed word roots”
- 12 (not strictly necessary, but clearer): for “The alliterating words” read either “The alliterating syllables” or “The alliterating word roots”
- 13: for “In Old English, there are two varieties of g” read “For the purposes of alliteration, Old English had two varieties of g”
- 31: for “(<wīfu)” and “(<werodu),” read “(< wīfu)” and “(< werodu)
- 38: for “the first or the second lift falls” read “the first or the second lift may fall”
- 54: for “the final dip of Types A and C never consists of more than two unstressed syllables,” read “the final dip of Types A and C never consists of more than one unstressed syllable”
- 69: for “most productive suffix in Present-day English” read “most productive agent noun suffix in Present-day English”
